Caroline Winn and I met last year when she photographed my artwork for a branding session. She is a Boston based photographer and has some really gorgeous work. My favorite photographers capture the light and emotion of a moment, and I love that Caroline's work captures so much happiness.
Christmas time is probably my busiest season and I love love love how personal the commissions always are. Caroline knew that she wanted to capture a sunset scene for her parents for Christmas, and sent me several beautiful photos from her most treasured spots on moments from her family's home on Cape Cod. My favorite inspiration images are below, of Rosie her brother Jake's sweet sun drenched Rot rottweiler and this absolutely captivating shot of the beach-- with the hot fire-like sea grass and cold sad and expansive sky- you can feel it!
If you have ever been up to New England, you may know how exquisitely beautiful it is. There are so many pockets and gems in the way the sunshine hits the landscape and the particular sound the earth makes when the wind rushes through. Cape Cod is a place that breeds sentimentality and nostalgia.
Another thing you will know if you have vacationed along the coast of New England is that landscape art is everywhere. Gorgeous work by so many artists. Caroline was very specific that she didn't want "just another Cape scene" so we walked through various ways that we could personalize it and ultimately she decided she liked the view from her parents porch. And Adding to the fun and illustrative quality of the piece we added some fun directors chairs with items that gave some insight into the personality of each of Caroline's family members.
My personal favorite details are her nephews chairs, Max and Jack. Max is 3 years old and loves tractors. Jack, Caroline explained, being only three months old "doesn't have any specific interests" just yet! (This literally made me laugh out loud!) We did a little zoo of animals. By far my favorite little add in this painting.
