The first Monday in May is possibly one of the most magical in all of New York City.
On this very exciting date, the Met Gala transforms the Metropolitan Museum of Art into a fairy tale full of magic and fairy dust in this very real world we live in. This year was no different in that sense, but drastically stylistically different than other years prior. The big and bold pops of color, enunciated by their clean shapes, were outstanding. To make matters more impressive- these constructed shapes- were made of FLOWERS.
Florist heaven?? Florist nightmare? I can’t decide. Aesthetically, it is clearly stunning, but were I the florist, I would be constantly worried that a single flower near Ann Wintour might wilt.
It isthe biggest and most elaborate charity ball in the city. The 2016 event raised approximately $13.5 million for the Met’s Anna Wintour Costume Center. Tickets are as high as $50,000; and even if you can afford it, it doesn't mean you're invited.
Feeling very inspired by this year’s beautiful gala last night. Happy Tuesday! Make some time in your busy schedule to watch The First Monday in May.
LME Announcement! I will be hitting pause on my Design Crush Tuesday blog posts in order to focus on current commissions and fine art series this summer. These are tons of fun, and I will continually post about projects that I’m working on, but we will pick back up with this particular series of posts in the fall, once this wild Summer is over!
