ABOUT THE COLLECTION
Hunt Country October 2023

The region I grew up in is perpetually inspiring to me. As Many pieces have seemingly bubbled from my subconscious. This October collection is particularly quiet and contemplative. Maintaining Lydia's typical saturated color and dramatic light the world is still and the sound of the leaves rushing in the wind slowly at first and then the gust is heard throughout this group.
Here we see friends helping on another from a shadowy patch to sunshine. Often we pray for direction, a path to be made clear. This is an example of friends helping us through difficult situations when the path is not apparent. We need a community of people to to help us through- to the next path for the most profound work happens in ordinary ways. Delicate and soft light filters softly through the trees- brighter in some areas than others in this Virginian landscape.

GIVING: The proceeds from the sale of this piece will go directly to Kristen Berg, Lydia's best friend since high school, who had stroke two years ago. She is miraculously still alive, and learning to walk, speak, and write again. She's had two recent surgeries which have assisted her feet to lay flat on the floor again. We are still hoping she will regain feeling in her left arm and leg. Her parents, sister and brother in law and community are of incredible support to her since the path has been made more difficult. Thank you for considering making this piece a part of your home.

Original Artwork

Original art is the most valuable; the most sought after; the most desired. At our worst, we have stolen, betrayed, and killed for it. At our best, we have humbly cried before it-and it’s changed our hearts and lives and world view and perspective for the better.

In creating, the artist is imparting herself onto the paper. An artist’s hand in creating the work of art mimics our ultimate creator. In owning the original you’re owning a glimpse of the alpha. Lydia’s artwork is created on French watercolor paper with a variety of high quality pigments and brushes that are all collected in striving to imbue her paintings with a sense of the meaning that sits just beyond our gaze.
