Sleepy Fox III

My Fox illustrations came about directly from commissions for Saving Sweet Briar College, an institution which I attended for a short stint, and have many family ties and connections to still.

But as I explored the coloration of the natural colored red fox and their sweet little faces, I fell utterly in love with their playful spirits. The truth is that my connection to foxies goes back to my childhood in Maine.  My grandfather was known for his knack with animals.  There are photographs of my mother with a racoon eating out of her hand in the cabin.
In my recollection, I recall my grandfather taming a fox every season he was in Maine.  They came to the door and ate out of his hand.

The fox will remain a delightful muse throughout my artist career.

This is the second of a triptic of the Sleepy Fox.
