ABOUT THE COLLECTION
The LME Americana Collection

This Collection explores different aspects of Americana through my eyes. Each month will feature a different theme. A touch of American iconography in this decade.

Gardens

Perhaps the most obvious American garden is the quintessential front yard.  My mind kept drifting back to a drive on South Hampton a few years ago. I was waiting at a stop light and glanced over to see the most pictureesque home; patriotic and incredibly welcoming.

A cursory description of America and Americans are that we are friendly and optimistic. In my research I found countless articles degrading the "quintessential American lawn" "the worst things about picket fences ever and why they should be abolished." Determined to put a positive spin on suburban lawns and give my own memories of all the joys I've personally experienced in them.

Cheers to all the happy moments we've spent on front lawns- doing cartwheels, planting flowers, and drinking in our neighbors beautiful attempts!

Original Artwork

Original art is the most valuable; the most sought after; the most desired. At our worst, we have stolen, betrayed, and killed for it. At our best, we have humbly cried before it-and it’s changed our hearts and lives and world view and perspective for the better.

In creating, the artist is imparting herself onto the paper. An artist’s hand in creating the work of art mimics our ultimate creator. In owning the original you’re owning a glimpse of the alpha. Lydia’s artwork is created on French watercolor paper with a variety of high quality pigments and brushes that are all collected in striving to imbue her paintings with a sense of the meaning that sits just beyond our gaze.
